28 May 2014 - The Philippine Embassy held a free public screening of the documentary entitled “Il Futuro e Troppo Grande” (The Future is Too Big) directed by Giusy Buccheri and Michele Citoni last April 10. Both Ms. Buccheri and Mr. Citoni were present during the Embassy screening as well as their colleagues.
The film features second generation immigrants in Rome, Filipino Romulo Emanuel “Re” Salvador and Chinese Zhanxing Xu.
The film focuses on Re and Xu’s experiences about life: study and work, family and love, and their expectations in Italy today.
The documentary is a reflection on the second generation of immigration in Italy. The film shows the two young people dealing with the problems of everyday life and the difficulties they experience in integrating into Italian society.
Italy hosts the largest number of Filipinos in the Eurozone area (now an estimated 190,000). In Italy, Filipinos have found a second home as indispensable members of the Italian workforce and society.
The Filipinos in Italy remain one of the most loved and most integrated in Italy. Filipino workers remain well treated by their Italian employers who recognize their work ethic, competence and industry.
