SHANGHAI, 28 February 2022 — Doubling down on their investment facilitation role, the Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai and the Philippine Trade and Investment Office-Shanghai (PTIC) recently wrapped up a series of meetings with foam and mattress company Shanghai Merriers on the latter’s investment plans in the Philippines on 22 February 2022.

Established in 1992, family-owned Shanghai Merriers is setting its sights on the Philippines as a potential site for its next overseas manufacturing facility. Its core products, which include memory foams and car seats, are for export to the U.S. and European markets.

Providing the company guidance relative to its first Philippine foray are Philippine Consulate General Economic Officer Consul Conrado Demdem, Jr. and PTIC Chief (Commercial Vice Consul) Mario Tani. With Merriers executives posed to dispatch an advance party to the Philippines, the officials also facilitated and took part in a meeting with HR solutions provider BIPO Service Shanghai Ltd., on meeting Merriers’ Philippine manpower requirements.

In Manila, Philippine investment promotion agencies are matching Merriers’ enthusiasm and have been readying to engage and assist Merriers’ visiting officials over the course of their mission. END
