JERUSALEM, 02 March 2022 – Philippine Ambassador to Israel Macairog S. Alberto met with Israeli Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz on 21 February 2022 to discuss various bilateral initiatives in health cooperation. Aside from the pandemic, both sides discussed the reopening of national borders in response to declining COVID cases, renewal of the Philippines-Israel Health Cooperation MOU, exchange of visits, and the health and wellness of Filipino workers in Israel, particularly in ensuring their optimal access to healthcare resources.
Minister Horowitz noted that the relations between the Philippines and Israel are “very good” and conveyed the Israeli Health Ministry’s willingness to work with the Philippines on ‘whatever it may need’. He encouraged Filipino workers with local health insurance to fully avail of Israel healthcare services for their various medical needs. Minister Horowitz also asked the Embassy to raise any health concerns from the Filipino community to the Israeli Health Ministry.
Ambassador Alberto thanked Minister Horowitz for Israel’s valuable support in strengthening the Philippines’ national pandemic response and mass vaccination program, citing Israel’s sending of two medical teams to the Philippines in 2021 and its donation of personal protective equipment and antigen test kits.
