30 May 2014 - Philippine Ambassador to the United Kingdom Enrique A. Manalo undertook an official visit to Dublin and Cork from May 23 to 24, 2014.  It was his first visit to Ireland since 2013 after he presented his credentials as non-resident Philippine Ambassador to Ireland.

In Dublin, Ambassador Manalo met with officials of the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Services (INIS), who informed the Ambassador that Filipinos in Ireland continue to be regarded highly in the country. Based on Ireland’s 2011 Census, there are 12,791 Filipinos in Ireland.

Ambassador Manalo also met with officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), in which both sides gave an update on the latest developments concerning the bilateral relationship. 

His meeting with the officials of the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine was an occasion for both sides to discuss the possibility for the Philippines and Ireland to explore joint venture cooperation in the agri/food industry and services, including forging technical cooperation in research and development.

The Ambassador also took the opportunity to visit the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Dublin.

The following day, Ambassador Manalo travelled to Cork to touch base with the Filipino community there. END
