LOS ANGELES, 21  March 2022– In support of the government’s policy to pursue alternative energy, utilizing a combination of fossil fuels and renewable energy solutions, the Philippine Consulate General and the Philippine Trade Investment Center in Los Angeles arranged a meeting between Philippine Department of Energy (DOE) officials and Mardee Renewable Energy Developers Corporation (MREDC) at the Consulate General premises.

The DOE delegation was composed of Undersecretary Gerardo D. Erguiza, Jr., and Director for Policy and Planning Bureau, Mr. Michael Sinocruz.  MREDC was represented by its President/CEO Mr. Patricio R. Marcelo.

During the meeting, DOE and MREDC agreed that there is a need to pursue creative means to access renewable energy sources as the Philippines is committed to reducing its carbon emissions.  Undersecretary Erguiza, Jr. said that the DOE will work on a framework that integrates energy and environmental policies.

MREDC is a Filipino-owned company promoting a proprietary technology that transforms household and other waste into energy (WtE).  The technology is aimed at the small- to medium-scale applications appropriate for independent power producers supplying LGUs in the Philippines.
