30 May 2014 - A seven-member consular team led by Philippine Consul General Leila Lora-Santos was sent to the city of Palermo in the island of Sicily from May 17 to 18 to extend consular services to Filipinos in the area. The team was joined by a four-member Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) team, comprising of representatives from Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Pag-IBIG and Social Security System (SSS).

 

The consular outreach mission was held in close collaboration and with the assistance of Philippine Don Bosco Association from the Filipino community in Palermo.

 

The outreach successfully assisted around 800 Filipinos, specifically servicing a total of 421 e-passport applicants, 84 notarials (Reports of Birth/Marriage/Death; Affidavits and Special Power of Attorney (SPAs) and 38 other services such as, among others, urgent extension of passports, authentication, certifications, dual citizenship and NBI clearances. The POLO team serviced 114 Pag-IBIG new and old membership, 96 new and reactivated SSS members, and 166 applications for OWWA membership.  

 

The outreach was likewise able to register 31 new overseas voters.  

 

 

The next outreach of the Embassy will be held in Florence in July 2014. END
