KUWAIT 09 April 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait has intensified its preparations as it gears up for the start of the 2022 National and Local Elections (NLE) overseas.

On 06 April 2019, the Embassy conducted the Final Testing and Sealing (FTS) of Vote Counting Machines (VCMs) to ensure that all systems are up to date and running. This included procedures, like diagnostics, open-voting, close-voting, and re-zero of the VCMs.

The FTS was opened to the general public and attended by members of the Filipino community, as well as the media. They were given a chance to have a walk-through of the election process and have experienced firsthand how to vote, from the shading, inserting and casting of the ballot, to printing of the vote receipt.

From 22 to 24 March 2022, embassy officers and staff tasked to serve as members of the Special Board of Canvassers (SBOC), Special Board of Election Inspectors (SBEI), Canvas Consolidation System (CCS) Operators and Vote Counting Machine (VCM) Operators joined the Overseas Voting Training conducted in Dubai, U.A.E. by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs – Overseas Voting Secretariat (DFA-OVS).

In spite of the challenges brought by lockdowns and restrictions, the Philippine Embassy Kuwait has successfully registered a total of 82,022 overseas voters.

“Let’s all vote! Let’s not waste this opportunity to choose our leaders. It’s our civic duty,” said Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait Mohd. Noordin Pendosina N. Lomondot.

“We can vote for President, Vice President, 12 Senators and one Party-list representative. The Embassy will be ready to assist you. Please check your name at the Certified List of Overseas Voters that is uploaded in our website and social media page,” Ambassador Lomondot added.

The overseas voting election period starts on 10 April 2022 at 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Kuwait time), open everyday, including weekends and holidays and will end on 10 May 2022 at 2:00 PM (Kuwait time). Voters are advised to check their names at the Certified List of Overseas Voters that is posted at the Embassy’s website and official Facebook page order to vote. END
