PH Embassy in Iran Conducts Virtual Overseas Voting Orientation for Filipinos in Iran, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan

TEHRAN 11 April 2022 — The Philippine Embassy in Iran held a virtual Voting Overseas Orientation for the Filipinos in Iran, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan on 09 April 2022.

Chargé d’affaires, a.i. (CDA) Roberto G. Manalo, who recently assumed and arrived in Iran on 19 March 2022, expressed his appreciation for the participation of our kababayan in the virtual orientation and encouraged the Filipinos within the Philippine Embassy jurisdiction to exercise the political right to vote for the next set of the country’s leaders during the month-long overseas voting period in the Embassy from 10 April 2022, 8:00 AM Tehran time to 09 May 2022, 3:30 PM Tehran time or 7:00 PM Manila time.

“The Philippines is being looked up to by other countries in terms of practicing our political democratic exercise and voting in this year’s national election is an opportunity for us to show to the world the vibrancy and liveliness of our democratic institutions and processes”, CDA Manalo said.

Around 50 Filipinos from the three countries participated in the online orientation that discussed, among others, the step-by-step procedures in Manual Voting, and the do’s and dont’s while in the Embassy premises to vote.

The manual voting at the Embassy will start on 10 April 2022, 8:00 AM, Tehran time until 09 May 2022, 3:30PM Tehran time or 7pm Manila time.  Likewise, the Embassy is finalizing its schedule to receive votes from registered overseas Filipino voters in Uzbekistan by the third week of April 2022.

The Philippine Embassy in Tehran, Iran has concurrent jurisdiction over Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. There are a total of 224 registered Filipino voters from said countries. END
