PH Ambassador to Cyprus Presents Credentials to President Anastasiades

ATHENS 20 April 2022 – Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Cyprus Giovanni E. Palec presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia on 14 April 2022.
As this year marks the 42nd anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between the Philippines and Cyprus, Ambassador Palec expressed his desire to deepen relations between the two countries during his tenure.
The Ambassador stressed that since the Philippines and Cyprus share common values of peace and democracy, they mutually pursued the resolution of outstanding issues through peaceful means and based on international law; and as seafaring nations, they give high regard to enhancing maritime cooperation and upholding regional peace and stability.
Ambassador Palec, likewise, expressed appreciation for Cyprus’ hosting of around 18,000 Filipino workers and for the establishment of two Honorary Consulates in Cyprus that attend to the needs of Filipinos in Cyprus. END
