PH Ambassador Chan Presents His Credentials as Non-Resident Envoy to Colombia President Duque

BRASILIA, 06 May 2022 – Ambassador Mario F. Chan presented his credentials and the letter of recall of his predecessor to President Ivan Duque at the Palacio de Nariño in Bogota yesterday.

Prior to proceeding to meeting President Duque, Ambassador Chan presented the open letters of credence and recall to Vice Foreign Minister Francisco Echeverri at the Cancilleria (the Ministry of Foreign Affairs). Likewise present to meet the undersigned at the Foreign Ministry were the Director for Asia, Africa and Oceania, Amb. Ignacio Enrique Ruiz Perea, Southeast Asia Desk Director David Montoya, and Protocol Director Jorge Rafael Velez Gomez.

Other Ambassadors presenting their credentials together with Ambassador Chan were the non-resident heads of missions from Bulgaria, Greece, Mongolia, Nigeria and Qatar.

Important bilateral collaborative interests between the Philippines and Colombia include the sharing of best practices in the domestic peace process, disaster risk reduction, national education strategies, the war on drugs and other transnational crimes, and the potentials for bilateral engagement in marine ecosystem sustainability development, meteorological and hydrological studies, and agricultural exports.

During Ambassador Chan’s conversation with President Duque, the President mentioned that he would like to see the establishment of a Philippine Embassy in Bogota which is currently among the agenda of interest between the Philippines and Colombia.
