TEL AVIV 11 May 2022 – Overseas voting in Israel for the Philippine national elections officially closed at 2:00 P.M. on 09 May 2022, with a record turn-out of 58.90%, or 7,873 registered voters since the polls opened at the Philippine Embassy on 10 April 2022. This was a substantial improvement over the 2016 national polls, which drew 40.92% of registered voters.

Philippine Ambassador to Israel Macairog S. Alberto lauded Filipinos for their enthusiastic participation in the conduct of elections.

(During the thirty-day election period, we were able to witness how deeply Filipinos love their country.

Many of you set aside time to come to the Embassy just to vote, or to assist with the conduct of elections as poll-watchers, accredited media observers, or volunteers. We sincerely appreciate your participation and your cooperation with the Embassy to ensure the clean and fair conduct of elections in Israel.  Let us all work together for a peaceful and prosperous future.)

Consul General Reichel Quiñones, who chairs the Special Board of Canvassers, departed Israel after the canvassing to deliver the results of the elections personally to the National Board of Canvassers in Manila, where they will be counted as part of the overall result of elections. END
