PH Consulate General in Manado Concludes Overseas Voting for Eastern Indonesia

MANADO 12 May 2022 — The Philippine Consulate General in Manado successfully concluded Overseas Absentee Voting for registered Filipino voters residing in eastern Indonesian provinces under its jurisdiction.

Voting was conducted at the Consulate from 10 April to 09 May 2022. The Consulate made an effort to conduct voting for Filipinos living in far-flung areas. Field voting missions were conducted in Mimika Regency, Papua Province on 06 May 2022 and Tangguh, West Papua Province on 07 May 2022. In addition, mobile voting was conducted in Makassar City, South Sulawesi Province on 08 May 2022.

The Consulate’s Special Board of Election Inspectors led by SBEI Chair Vice Consul Manuel C. Ayap started counting votes at 7:00 P.M. on 09 May 2022. Counting ended at 12 a.m. on 10 May 2022. That same day, the SBEI Chair boarded the earliest available flight to the Indonesian capital to deliver copies of the Election Returns to the Special Board of Canvassers (SBOC) at the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta.

Voter turnout was a record high. Out of 167 registered voters, 116 voters, or 69 percent, cast their votes. END
