PH Ambassador Visits First Philippine-owned Company in South Africa

PRETORIA 20 May 2022 — As part of the Embassy’s economic diplomacy program, Philippine Ambassador to South Africa Noralyn Jubaira Baja, together with Embassy officials, visited the manufacturing plant of Liwayway Food South Africa (Pty) Ltd in Centurion, South Africa on 17 May 2022. Liwayway Food Company is the first Philippine-owned company that invested in South Africa.
The Ambassador was warmly received by the South African Plant of Liwayway Corporation’s top management led by Operations Manager Kyle Sy, together with the company’s Filipino employees.
The Embassy delegation did a facility tour and was briefed on the company’s operations and performance in South Africa. Liwayway top management also shared their intention to expand its operations to promote its diverse product line in the Southern African region. END
The Company, which currently employs 250 South African nationals, produces the iconic Philippine snack food Pillows for South Africa and other neighboring African countries, which is locally marketed as Oozies.
