TEHRAN 24 May 2022 — The Philippine Embassy in Tehran, led by Philippine Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. to Iran Roberto G. Manalo, welcomed Department of Science and Technology officials and health experts from the Philippines for a Scientific Visit in Iran, on 20 May 2022 in Tehran.

Headed by Science and Technology Undersecretary for Research and Development Dr. Rowena Cristina Guevara, the Philippine delegation is on a mission to Tehran to carry out the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on Scientific and Technological Cooperation between the Philippines and Iran signed in April 2019.

The Scientific Visit will particularly focus on collaborations in the areas of nanotechnology program development and health science, not just with the Iranian science and technology agencies but also with a number of private institutions and laboratories in Tehran and neighboring cities.

“For the Philippines and Iran to work together for health and social care during this time of global health pandemic is a highly crucial effort. The world is not yet out of the woods in its battle against the pandemic, thus we are encouraged by the timely visit of our DOST officials and health experts in Tehran for a collaboration with their Iranian counterparts in furthering scientific cooperation, particularly in an area that applies to the health sector,” said CDA Manalo. END
