Philippine Embassy in Ottawa Explores Educational Cooperation with University of Alberta
Ambassador Rodolfo D. Robles ( 2nd from R, ) meets University of Alberta’s (UoA’s) President Bill Flanagan ( 3rd from R) and Vice-Provost and Associate Vice President (International) Cen Huang ( Extreme right) on 20 June 2022, to further explore potential educational cooperation between UoA and its counterparts in the Philippines. The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) sends Filipino scholars to the UoA to pursue Masters and Ph.D. degrees through the Graduate Scholarship Program (GSP) based on an arrangement between DOST and UoA which was signed on 22 March 2019.
In a separate meeting, Ambassador Robles also meets five Filipino scholars currently enrolled under the program who shared their experiences as students in Alberta as well as the status of their studies. They are taking their MSc or Ph. D. degrees at the University of Alberta (UoA) through a scholarship grant provided by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
Calgary PCG established the linkage between the DOST and UoA that led to the signing of the Graduate Scholarship Program in 2019, which now serves as the basis for UoA’s admission of the DOST scholars. Six additional scholars are expected to join the program in the coming term.
