MANADO 11 July 2022 — The Philippines deployed on 05 July 2022 the Philippine Navy's BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PS-16) and its 150-strong complement and the Philippine Air Force’s C-295 Aircraft to the Coordinated Patrol Philippines-Indonesia (CORPAT PHILINDO) XXXVI-2022 currently ongoing in Indonesia's North Sulawesi Province.
The CORPAT PHILINDO is an annual maritime patrol exercise between the Philippines and Indonesia conducted in accordance with the 1975 Philippine-Indonesia Border Patrol Agreement. It aims to secure the border areas between the two countries from illegal activities and enhance interoperability between the Philippine and Indonesian navies.
The Philippine delegation was led by LtGen. Greg T. Almerol PA, Commander of Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) and Chairman of the Philippine Border Committee (PHBC). The Indonesian delegation was led by TNI Rear Admiral Dr. Tolhas Sininta Nauli Basana Hutabarat, M.M.S, Commander of the Indonesian Second Fleet and Chairman of the Indonesian Border Committee.
Philippine Consul General in Manado Angelica C. Escalona and DFA Mindanao Assistant Secretary Renato Pedro O. Villa joined officials from the Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom), Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao (NFEM), Philippine Air Force (PAF), Department of Foreign Affairs Mindanao (DFA-Mindanao), and Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) at the opening ceremony of the CORPAT PHILINDO XXXVI-2022 held at SwissBel Hotel in Manado on 05 July 2022.
