06 June 2014 - In line with its objective to protect Filipinos from acquiring or spreading Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus (MERS-CoV), the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi provided full support to the experts from Department of Health (DOH) who visited Abu Dhabi from May 27 to 31.
The experts met with the leaders of the Bayanihan Council, the umbrella organization of all Filipino community groups in Abu Dhabi, and the Filipino Professional Group (FPG)-UAE which is comprised of eleven (11) professional organizations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) They assured the community that the Philippine government is concerned about their welfare, shared information about MERS CoV and discussed preventive measures against the virus (i.e. cough etiquette, proper hand washing, etc.)
The DOH experts also conducted a lecture entitled Philippine experience on the MERS CoV with the Filipino health professionals from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah including members of the Filipino Nurses Association in the Emirates (FNAE). They reminded the nurses and medical workers on proper wearing of PPAs (Personal Protected Attire). The same lecture was also given to the officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
