PH Embassy in Moscow Supports Efforts of New Era University Toward Strengthening Institutional Linkages between PH, Russia Universities, Scholars

MOSCOW 08 July 2022 – Philippine Ambassador to Russia Igor G. Bailen and officials of the Philippine Embassy in Moscow warmly received the delegation from New Era University (NEU) led by Dr. Carlos Tabunda, Dean of the School of International Relations and Director of the Russian Studies Center, together with Mr. Cornelio Guerrero, Coordinator of the Russian Studies Center and his wife, Mrs. Margarita Guerrero, and Ms. Esmeralda Coloma, Moscow Correspondent for Eagle Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) at the Embassy on 28 June 2022. The delegation’s visit to Rusia is aimed renewing and enriching institutional linkages between NEU and premier universities in Moscow and Saint Petersburg.
Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) forged in 2018 between NEU and Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), NEU was able to establish its Russian Studies Center in mid-2021. The MoU also paved the way for further cooperation between NEU and MGIMO through the sending and exchange of scholars. Mr. Cornelio Guerrero is the first visiting researcher from said Philippine university with residency in MGIMO from 2022 to 2023.
Ambassador Bailen praised the efforts of Dr. Tabunda, Mr. Guerrero, and the Russian Studies Center of NEU for its promotion of the exchange of knowledge and understanding between Russian and Philippine scholars.
“The Philippine Embassy is fully supportive of the efforts of the members of our academe to reach out to their counterparts in Russia and grow networks that would espouse better understanding between our peoples”, said Ambassador Bailen. END
