06 June 2014 - Philippine Ambassador to China Erlinda F. Basilio participated in the Zhongguancun-ASEAN Service Trade Promotion Conference, one of the events under the China International Fair for Trade in Service (CIFTIS), held at the China National Convention Center (CNCC) on May 31.

During the conference, Ambassador Basilio gave the Chinese audience an overview of the Philippines’ business process outsourcing (BPO) industry and enumerated areas for possible cooperation between Philippine and Chinese enterprises.

Ambassador Basilio strongly encouraged Chinese enterprises going overseas to consider partnering with Philippine enterprises to gain a competitive advantage in business development of new markets, customer relations management, and back office operations.

The event was jointly organized by the China-ASEAN Business Council (CABC) and the Administrative Committee of Zhongguancun, which has an industrial park focused on information technology and innovation-related enterprises.

Zhongguancun, also known as China’s Silicon Valley, is considered an innovation demonstration area, which makes use of universities and scientific research institutions in scientific innovation and development to promote the growth of new technology enterprises.

CABC is an organization whose membership consists of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the ASEAN Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), enterprises, and chambers of commerce of ASEAN member countries, with the main goal of promoting dialogue and cooperation between Chinese and ASEAN and implementing the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA).
