Filipino Para Athletes Compete at the 11th ASEAN Para Games in Indonesia

JAKARTA 02 August 2022 - Bringing honor and pride to the country, one hundred forty-four (144) Philippine para athletes vie for medals at the 11th ASEAN Para Games from 31 July to 06 August 2022 in Solo, Indonesia. . The Philippine team will compete in sporting events such as: archery, athletics, badminton, boccia, chess, goalball, judo, powerlifting, sitting volleyball, swimming, table tennis, and wheelchair basketball.
Indonesian Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, Surakarta Mayor and Chairman of the Paralympic Games Organizing Committee, Mr. Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Zainudin Amali welcomed the 11th ASEAN Para Games delegations from 10 ASEAN member countries and Timor Leste during the Opening Ceremony held on 30 July 2022 at the Manahan Stadium, Solo, Indonesia.
Giving the Philippines’ an early victory, the delegation won against Indonesia during the elimination round of the Men’s Wheelchair Basketball on 30 July 2022, with a final score of 15 (PH) to 10 (ID).
Philippine Paralympic Committee President, Mr. Mike Barredo together with the Philippine Sports Commission officials led by its Chief, Ms. Anne Ruiz joined the Philippine delegation. END
