PH Embassy in Manama Launches Free Health Check-Up Project, Assists 500 Filipinos in Bahrain

MANAMA 10 August 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, in coordination with the Al Hilal Medical Center–Manama, organized a Healthy Life Check-Up for Filipino nationals in Bahrain on 05 August 2022.
A total of 500 Filipino patients availed of the free health check-up at the Al Hilal Medical Center–Manama as early as 6:00am. The check-up includes free blood testing, including fasting blood sugar, kidney screening, liver screening and total cholesterol count. After their blood tests, the Filipino participants were provided with packed snacks sponsored by the Embassy’s OWWA Office.
Once their blood test results become available, the Filipino patients collect them at the hospital and are able to further avail of a free consultation valid for ten (10) days. The Al Hilal Medical Center–Manama also provided a special discount card to the Filipino participants of the “Free Medical Camp”, offering the following discounts: 30% on Consultations, 20% on Laboratory & Radiology, 30% on Dental Services, 50% on Optical (promo items only), 40% on Cosmetology (Laser & Cosmetic), and 10% on MRI, CT, IP, Surgery, Procedures & Injections. This discount card is valid until 31 July 2023.
In addition, the Medical Center also provided Vitamin D Check-Up Vouchers worth BD4.00 (approximately Php590.00) and BD5.00 cash vouchers (approximately Php737.00) that patients can use for consultations.
OFW Raymundo Decena Ordoṅo, one of the OFWs who availed of the free check-up, conveyed his thanks to the Philippine Embassy and to the Al Hilal Medical Center–Manama. He said, “Itong ginagawang medical mission ay napakaganda sa katulad naming mga OFWs na wala nang chance na magpa-medical dahil sa aming uri ng trabaho dito.”
Another OFW, Ms. Rachel Girao, said, “Nagpapasalamat po ako sa Al Hilal at sa tulong ng Philippine Embassy sa Bahrain sa libreng check-up dito. Ito po ay malaking tulong sa amin para po malaman namin kung kami ay physically fit . . . at kung kami ay may karamdaman, kami ay matutulungan.”
Charge d’Affaires, a.i., Anne Jalando-on Louis conveyed the Embassy’s deep appreciation to the Al Hilal Medical Center-Manama, led by its CEO, Dr. Sarath Chandran, for partnering with the Embassy in the conduct of the “Free Medical Camp” for Filipino nationals. This initiative is part of the Embassy’s continuing efforts to promote the health and wellness of the members of the Filipino community in Bahrain. END
