06 June 2014- Two years after his stint at the Filipino American Youth Leadership Program (FYLPRO) in 2012, San Francisco native JR Calanoc introduced his post-FYLPRO project—an online vendor matching platform One Virtual Source (OVS)—to young business leaders with the support of the Philippine Consulate General at the Philippine Center in New York last June 3.
Following a short networking session, Philippine Consul General in New York Mario L. De Leon, Jr. welcomed the guests and gave a brief background on the strong economic performance of the Philippines for the past 15 years, and the prospects that businesses can expect as more investments are being directed towards infrastructure and education, particularly for the Business Process Outsourcing and Information Technology sectors.
Mr. Calanoc presented his brainchild which is designed to help business owners in the United States (US) collaborate with top-notch Filipino technology companies quickly, easily, and securely. The creation of the platform has opened opportunities for small and medium technology firms in the Philippines to be tapped by US companies for their services, which are otherwise very difficult for businesses of their size due to limited resources. The Chief Executive Officers of three companies presently benefiting from the virtual platform—Blast Asia, Orange and Bronze, and Flight Digital Media—gave their testimonials and shared best practices in their fields of work through the video conferencing feature on the OVS portal.
