RABAT 08 August 2022 – The ASEAN Committee in Rabat (ACR) under the Chairmanship of Thai Ambassador to Morocco Nontawat Chandrtri commemorated the 55th founding anniversary of ASEAN through a flag raising ceremony held at the Thai Ambassador’s residence in Souissi, Rabat.

In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Chandrtri highlighted the achievements of ASEAN in the past 55 years since its establishment, the excellent relations between Morocco and ASEAN, which culminated in Morocco’s accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC) of ASEAN in 2016, as well as ACR’s commitment to strengthen and deepen ASEAN’s partnership with Morocco.

ASEAN dialogue partners and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates graced the occasion and celebrated ASEAN’s efforts towards realizing its vision to have a stable, peaceful, united and dynamic region for the benefit of the Southeast Asian people.

The flag raising ceremony was followed by a tea reception featuring traditional delicacies from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The ACR was established in 2015 and is one of the 55 ASEAN Committees in Third Countries and International Organizations (ACTCs). The ACR is composed of 6 ASEAN Member States with resident missions in Rabat. The Chairmanship rotates annually among the ASEAN Ambassadors. END
