ASEAN Diplomats Celebrate 55th ASEAN Day in Israel
TEL AVIV 12 AUGUST 2022 – Thai Ambassador to the State of Israel Pannabha Chandraramya hosted a small gathering of diplomats from ASEAN countries at her residence on 08 August 2022, to celebrate 55th ASEAN Day. The gathering was co-organized by the Embassies of Myanmar, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Deputy Director General for the Asia Pacific, Rafael Harpaz, joined the gathering as a guest.
While there is no ASEAN Committee in Israel, the diplomatic missions of ASEAN countries continue to work closely together in the spirit of a “caring and sharing” ASEAN community.
As part of the celebration of an important ASEAN milestone, the Embassies served their countries’ iconic noodle dishes and beverages: the Philippines brought pansit bihon, lumpia, and San Miguel Beer; Thailand prepared pad thai and Singha beer; Vietnam served pho, caphe suada, and cold tea; and Myanmar offered coconut noodles.
ASEAN music was also featured during the reception. The Embassy played traditional tunes from the Yakan of Mindanao and Kalinga of Northern Luzon, rondalla pieces, as well as songs by Nicanor Abelardo, Ernani Cuenco, George Canseco, Hotdog, Eraserheads, and Silent Sanctuary. END
