06 June 2014 -The Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica Senza Frontiere (Amateur Sports Association Senza Frontiere) or ASD Senza Frontiere held an awarding ceremony on May 23 for its 2013-2014 Football Tournament.
The ceremony was held at the Sala Tirreno of the Regione Lazio headquarters in the presence of the participating teams, diplomatic representatives, and officials of the Commune di Roma and Regione Lazio.
A message from Rome Mayor Ignazio Marino was read during the ceremony. He congratulated the ASD Senza Frontiere, which, for more than a decade has promoted sports, particularly football, under the principles of inclusion and dialogue.
Mayor Marino noted that ASD Senza Frontiere offers concrete opportunities for integration by using sports as a vehicle to combat racism and intolerance.
The participating Philippine team called “Team for OFWs” was conferred an award for its first-ever participation in the ASD Senza Frontiere’s Football Tournament.
Vice Consul Jarie Osias was present to award the trophy to the “Team for OFWs.”
The winners of the ASD Senza Frontiere Football Tournament are as follows:
• Tunisia (men’s category 8)
• Ecuador (women’s category 5)
• Morocco (men’s category 5)
• Team Villa Maraini Foundation (special award for exemplifying sportsmanship and respect for opponents)
ASD Senza Frontiere continues to promote peaceful co-existence among the different migrant communities in Rome by highlighting tolerance, hospitality and collaboration without cultural barriers. END
