PH Embassy in London Celebrates Buwan ng Wika

LONDON 30 August 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in London spearheaded the celebration of Buwan ng Wikaamong the Filipino community in the United Kingdom with a “Kwentuhan sa Sentro Rizal” at Sentro Rizal London on 26 August 2022.

Filipino community leader Ms. Adelina Duenas read to students and members of the Filipino community a beloved Philippine folk tale, “Ang Alamat ng Pinya.” The storytelling session included a quiz portion, with the storyteller asking the guests some questions about the folk tale. They were also encouraged to share and discuss the moral lessons they derived from the story. Simple tokens were awarded to the game participants.

In her opening remarks, Philippine Embassy in London Chargé d’Affaires Rhenita B. Rodriguez underscored the importance of celebrating Buwan ng Wika (Filipino Language Month) as it bonds Filipinos as a people and fosters Filipinos’ sense of national and cultural identity. 

The celebration concluded with a salo-salo of Filipino food. END
