ASEAN Committee in Islamabad Celebrates 55th ASEAN Day

ISLAMABAD 01 September 2022 — The ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI) celebrated the 55th anniversary of the founding of ASEAN at the Serena Hotel on 29 August 2022, with State Minister for Foreign Affairs Nina Rabbani Khar as Chief Guest.
In her speech during the said occasion, Minister of State Khar cited ASEAN as a shining example of regional cooperation and coordination, thereby spurring peace, prosperity and progress in the Southeast Asian region. The Minister expressed the hope that ASEAN’s example be replicated in South Asia, thereby achieving peace, progress and prosperity to countries within.
A video clip featuring ASEAN Secretary General Lim Jock Hoi delivering his message for the 55th ASEAN founding anniversary was shown to 150 guests including the Ambassadors from ASEAN partner countries. The ACI Chairman, Viet Nam’s Ambassador Nguyen Tien Phong extolled the various accomplishments reached by ASEAN 55 years since its founding.
Seven ASEAN member countries are represented in the ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI), namely: The Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. END
