PH Embassy Leads ASEAN Committee in Warsaw in Celebrating 55th Founding Anniversary in Warsaw

WARSAW, 10 August 2022 – The Philippine Embassy, as current Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Warsaw (ACW), led the ASEAN community in Warsaw in celebrating the 55th Anniversary of the Founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations with a diplomatic reception on 08 August 2022. The reception was held at the Residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia.

The ACW’s first in-person diplomatic reception since 2019 was attended by close to 70 guests which included Polish government officials, members of the Asia-Pacific Diplomatic Corps, and representatives from the embassies of the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam in Warsaw.

The Guest of Honor for the Reception was Mr. Paweł Jabłoński, Undersecretary of State for Economic and Development Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.

Philippine Ambassador to Poland Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz delivered a Message on behalf of the ACW, referring to the Joint Communique issued during the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting held in Phnom Penh on 03 August 2022: “Noting the turbulence and challenges currently faced by the region and the world at large that have reached unprecedented new heights, the AMM highlighted the compelling need to strengthen engagement and cooperation with its Dialogue Partners.”

Ambassador Basinang-Ruiz emphasized that ASEAN therefore looks forward to the convening of the ASEAN-EU Commemorative Summit to mark the 45th Anniversary of ASEAN-EU Dialogue Relations to be held in December 2022 in Brussels.

The ACW is one of fifty-five ASEAN Committees in Third Countries, which play animportant role in ASEAN’s conduct of Dialogue and External Relations by promoting ASEAN’s interest and forging partnerships in their respective host countries. END
