MEXICO, 05 September 2022 – The Philippines once again participated in the Incentives, Business Travel and Meetings (IBTM) Americas held in Mexico City on 24-25 August 2022.

IBTM Americas is one of the leading international trade shows that connects the meetings and events industry across the North and Latin American regions through a series of B2B meetings, networking, and sales presentations.  This year, more than 450 exhibitors and 2,600 visitors participated in the event.

The Philippine Embassy assisted the delegation composed of the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), the Philippine Department of Tourism in Los Angeles (PDOT-LA) and private tourism sector representatives from Travelite Travel and Tours Co., Divaishnavi International Travel and Tours Inc., and Blue Horizons Travel & Tours Inc.

As the only Southeast Asian country in the trade show, the Philippines was able to strengthen its foothold in the Latin American market by forging partnerships between Philippine suppliers and MICE consumers in the region.  It then resulted in 12 strong sales leads with estimated revenue of Php 83.5 million.

In order to maximize exposure for the Philippines, the delegation organized a tourism presentation and press conference on 24 August 2022 in Mexico City.  The event was attended by more than 40 Mexican tour operators and members of the press.

In his welcome remarks, Chargé d´Affaires John G. Reyes highlighted the country´s readiness to welcome MICE partners, following our successful hosting of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit in April 2022.  With the reopening of our borders, it is our hope that international tourism can help the Philippine economy recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
