Hong Kong-Based Gallery Founded by Filipino Sisters Gets Featured at Belt & Road National Art and Culture Expo 2022

HONG KONG 04 October 2022 — The Philippine Consulate General through the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Hong Kong (PTIC-HK) participated in the Belt & Road National Art and Culture Expo (BRNACE) from 23 to 25 September 2022 at the Asia World – Expo Hong Kong. Vice Consul Jose Angelo D.G. Manuel represented the Philippines during the ribbon cutting ceremony.

The BRNACE, which garnered over 18,000 visitors, aims to promote the development of art and culture of participating countries. Over 250 renowned art galleries, organizations and Consulates General in Hong Kong, including Kambal Galery, exhibited traditional and modern artworks and local designs.

Kambal Gallery, a Hong Kong-based gallery founded by Filipino twin sisters Anna Pendry and Irene Haagen, featured artworks of different Filipino artists including Frank Caña, Salvador Ching, Anafe Nemenzo, Christian Lee Regis, Bea Siasico, Eman Sia, Rishab Tibon, Lydia Velasquez, and Justin Velasquez. Cordillera Region takes pride with Filipino fashion accessories from Yuman Kaili Artisanal Crafts and Aveline’s Cordillera Handloom Wooven Products. Further, Filipino traditional clothing such as barong tagalog and filipinian were prominently displayed in the Philippines’ booth and showcased the rich culture of the Philippines.

Vice Consul and Commercial Attaché Roberto Mabalot Jr. briefly introduced Philippine culture and art during the BRNACE forum. He also invited the participants to come and visit the country to learn and further experience Philippine culture and arts, in light of the easing in Hong Kong’s quarantine requirements. END
