MEXICO, 12 October 2022 – The Philippines, as a member of the ASEAN Committee in Mexico City (ACMC) currently chaired by the Embassy of Indonesia, conducted a business mission to the Mexican state of Baja California from 04 to 07 October 2022.  The mission aims to explore possible economic cooperation, particularly in the fields of manufacturing, automotive, electronics, and aerospace, among others. The delegation observed customs and port operations in the cities of Ensenada and Tijuana, and visited plant sites of companies, such as Hyundai, Samsung, and Intuitive Mexicali.

In 2021, Mexico ranked as the Philippines’ 25th trading partner with total trade amounting to USD 927.23 million, making it the second largest trading partner of the Philippines in Latin America, next to Brazil.  Top Philippine exports to Mexico include integrated circuits, input/output units, semiconductors, storage units, and static converters.

Likewise, a number of Filipinos are currently employed by Skyworks Solutions, an American company which manufactures semiconductors for use in radio frequency and mobile communication systems operating in the city of Mexicali.
