PH, Poland Discuss Intensifying Defense Cooperation

WARSAW, 14 October 2022 – Philippine Ambassador to Poland Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz met with Poland’s Deputy Minister of National Defense, State Secretary Mr. Marcin Ociepa, in Warsaw on 12 October 2022 to discuss initiatives to promote stronger ties and linkages between the two countries, particularly in light of the forthcoming celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in September 2023.
Both sides reviewed the significant progress that had been achieved in the defense relations between Poland and the Philippines in recent years and discussed ongoing activities to expand and strengthen cooperation for mutual benefit and shared values and interests.
The members of the Philippine Delegation included Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul General Mardomel Celo D. Melicor and Cultural and Information Officer Ma. Chloe O. Silverio. Deputy Minister Ociepa was accompanied by Ms. Anna Kosciuk, Deputy Director of the Military Foreign Affairs Department, Col. Zbigniew Kołaczek, Eastern Branch of the Military Foreign Affairs Department, and Mr. Krzysztof Boguta, Expert Adviser of Deputy Minister Secretary of State Ociepa.
It was agreed that the Philippine Embassy in Warsaw and the Polish Ministry of National Defense will continue their contacts and coordination in support of this objective. END
