PH Embassy Turns Over PH History, Arts, and Culture Books to American International University in Bangladesh

DHAKA 25 October 2022 — In line with its efforts to promote, encourage further learning about the Philippines, and expand the Philippines’ bilateral relations with Bangladesh in the area of education, the Philippine Embassy donated various books on Philippine history, arts, and culture to the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) library on 18 October 2022.

The Philippine Embassy’s team was welcomed by AIUB’s Vice Chancellor, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, a Filipino academic and an awardee of the 2006 Presidential Award for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas. The visit was followed with a tour of the AIUB campus conducted by select faculty and officers of AIUB, including Mr. Danilo Morgia, Director for IT Operations and Ms. Rani Ramos, Lecturer at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, both of whom are Filipinos.

The ceremony for the handover of the books was held at the main floor of the university library. Vice ChancellorLamagna received the books, which were subsequently included in the collection of the Philippine corner of the library, and thanked the Embassy for the donation.

During the team’s visit, initial ideas for possible areas for collaboration between the Embassy and AIUB were explored, as well as how the Philippines can contribute to the education sector of Bangladesh. Both sides expressed willingness to develop and implement joint projects in the future. END
