PH Ambassador to Thailand Signs Donation Agreement for the Philippine Studies Program of Thammasat University

Philippine Ambassador to Thailand Millicent Cruz Paredes and Dr. Passapong Sripicharn, Dean of Faculty of Liberal Arts, Thammasat University signing the Donation Agreement.

BANGKOK 28 October 2022 – Philippine Ambassador to Thailand Millicent Cruz Paredes and Dr. Passapong Sripicharn, Dean of Faculty of Liberal Arts, Thammasat University, signed the Donation Agreement for the University to implement its Philippine Studies Program on 20 October 2022.

The Program is focused on activities that enhance people-to-people relations between the Philippines and Thailand, including academic exchanges, lecture series, research grants, enhancement of the Filipiniana collection, and other projects related to Filipino history, cultures, and society.

Ambassador Paredes congratulated Thammasat University for being an instrument in strengthening Philippine-Thailand relations. She likewise lauded the University for accepting the task of implementing the Philippine Studies Program and providing the opportunity for Thai students and faculty to learn, experience and appreciate Philippine history, language, and culture. The Ambassador also acknowledged Senator Loren Legarda, whose congressional initiative made the Philippine Studies Program possible.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Vice Consul Susan Phoebe R. Sabado, Cultural Attaché Evonne Avril B. Manayao, and University representatives, Dr. Sirirat Na Ranong, Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs and International Affairs, Assistant Professor Pongpun Krainara, Head of Hispanic and Latin American Studies, Dr. Piemsak Hongjamrassilp, Lecturer of Hispanic and Latin American Studies, Dr. Suwannarat Meesomboonpoonsuk, Lecturer of the Southeast Asian Studies Program, Ms. Kannika Meesak, Head of International Affairs, and selected Thammasat University students.
