10 June 2014 - The Women’s Bowling Team of the Philippine Missions to the United Nations (UN) and World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva won 2nd place in the annual ASEAN Bowling Tournament held on May 31 at the Bowling International in Centre Commercial et Loisirs La Praille in Geneva, Switzerland.  The women’s team played against six other competitive women’s bowling teams from different ASEAN countries. 

 

geneva1bOrganized for the first time by the Philippine Missions to the UN and WTO in Geneva, twenty-two (22) teams of male and female bowlers ranked against each other in the true spirit of ASEAN camaraderie, solidarity, sportsmanship and friendly competition.

                       

ASEAN Missions in Geneva hold the annual bowling tournament to promote greater interaction and foster friendship among ASEAN diplomats and their families and friends, as well as to promote healthy and active lifestyle. 

 

During the 2nd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Sports (AMMS) in December 2013 in Laos, the ASEAN Ministers recognized that sports play an important role in realizing the vision of an ASEAN Community in 2015.

 

 

The Bowling Tournament comes as a prelude to the upcoming annual ASEAN Sports Family Day which be held on June 2.  END
