PH Ambassador Meets with International Labour Organization Director in Türkiye

ANKARA, 19 October 2022 — Philippine Ambassador to Türkiye Maria Elena P. Algabre, with Minister and Consul General Juan E. Dayang, Jr., and Attaché Vanesa T. Sumera, met with the International Labour Organization (ILO) Director, Mr. Numan Ozcan, on 18 October 2022 at the ILO office in Ankara. 

Mr. Ozcan spoke of the ILO’s programs in assisting migrants and refugees in Türkiye. Ambassador Algabre shared the Philippines’ long-standing policy and institutionalized system for protecting and promoting the rights and welfare of Filipino migrants, including the newly-created Department of Migrant Workers and its mandate to assist overseas Filipino workers. She mentioned the services provided by the Philippine Embassy in Ankara, in coordination with the Philippine Consulate General in İstanbul, in assisting Filipinos in Türkıye. Mr. Ozcan and the Ambassador agreed to explore possible cooperation activities between the Embassy and ILO Türkıye. END
