Philippine Ambassador to Russia Igor G. Bailen called on Metropolitan Anthony, Chairman, Department of External Church Relations, Russian Orthodox Church on 31 October 2022 at Danilov Monastery in Moscow.
They discussed the growth of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Philippines, particularly in Mindanao and its positive contributions to peace. They also exchanged views on how to build upon the strong historical and common faith links between Christian Orthodoxy, Roman Catholicism, and Protestantism in the Philippines.
A crucial discussion was the debt of gratitude the Russian Ortbodox Church for the Philippines for hosting an emigre White Russian Orthodox Community from 1949 to 1951 in Samar.
They promised to collaborate in future projects of mutual benefit. Joining the Ambassador during the call was Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul General Robert O. Ferrer, Jr. and 3rd Secretary and Vice Consul Catherine F. Alpay. END
