PH Embassy in Tokyo Fetes Filipino Recipients of Order of the Rising Sun

TOKYO, 14 November 2022 – At a reception held by the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo ON 09 November 2022, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Robespierre L. Bolivar, congratulated the high-level officials of the Philippine government who were conferred the Order of the Rising Sun.

“We celebrate the contributions of our distinguished honorees in the promotion of our bilateral ties, and we hope that this evening would also be a chance for us to rekindle our friendship and cooperation,” CDA Bolivar remarked.

Ceremonies were earlier held at the Imperial Palace for the conferment of Orders of the Rising Sun by his Majesty the Emperor on 119 foreigners and 3,999 Japanese nationals.

Former Secretary of Foreign Affairs Albert F. del Rosario and Former Secretary of Finance Carlos G. Dominguez received the highest commendation for foreigners this autumn season, the Grand Cordon of the Rising Sun.

Former Secretary of Transportation Arthur P. Tugade was bestowed the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star for contributing to strengthening bilateral relations between Japan and the Philippines in the field of transportation and economic cooperation.

Three other Filipinos were recognized. Mr. David F. Carter, former President, Philippine Judo Federation Inc. and Executive Board Member, Philippine Olympic Committee was conferred with the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays. Atty. Josue Sim Zuniega, Legal Counsel of the Manila Office of the Philippine Nikkei-jin Legal Support Center, was given the Order of the Rising Sun, Silver Rays. Ms. Mary-Anne Garcia Saga, former local employee of the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, was honored with the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold and Silver Rays. END
