PH Officials Face-To-Face with Geneva FilCom in Frank Exchange on Human Rights

GENEVA, 17 November 2022 – Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla met with the Filipino Community in Geneva to discuss issues related to human rights on 14 November 2022, the same day that the Philippines participated in the 4th cycle of the Universal Periodic Review of the Philippines by the UN Human Rights Council (HRC).
Filipino migrants based in Geneva, as well as representatives from a wide-range of civil society organizations and groups representing people in vulnerable situations, joined the open and frank discussions held at the Philippine Mission.
Secretary Remulla presented the Philippine government’s human rights agenda, including transformation reforms in the justice system. Secretary Remulla also answered questions and concerns from the Filipino community, and reiterated commitment in ensuring that each and every Filipino will enjoy their human rights to the fullest.
Secretary Remulla is joined by officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Justice, and the Permanent Mission of the Philippines to the United Nations in Geneva. END
