ABU DHABI, 17 November 2022 — At the Opening Ceremony of the Global Media Congress (GMC) in Abu Dhabi on 15 November 2022, Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Hjayceelyn M. Quintana lauded the UAE for organizing the inaugural Media Congress which gave a platform for the Philippine News Agency (PNA) to consolidate relations with UAE's state news agency and media sector, as well as with other international counterparts. She congratulated UAE State News Agency (WAM) Director General Mohammed Jalal Al-Rayssi for the success of the GMC.

"I am pleased to see the Philippine News Agency taking part in the UAE’s Global Media Congress this week, as media is vital in the ever-evolving relationship between the Philippines and the UAE. PH-UAE relations continue to flourish from its establishment 48 years ago founded on the strong presence of Filipinos in the UAE, such that our cooperation continues to expand and cover new areas such as knowledge and digital economy, renewable energy, and now media. Following my interactions with WAM, the presence of PNA at this pioneering GMC highlights the importance of media in our respective countries, and how countries need to exchange best practices to communicate better with our respective stakeholders. The GMC is the latest example of how the UAE leadership continues to reach out to the world to provide a platform for countries to work together on finding new approaches to address global issues and concerns," said Ambassador Quintana.

Some international participants of the GMC, such as the League of Arab States’ ArabSat (Arab Satellite Communications Organization) and Italy's Agenzia Nazionale Stampa Associata (ANSA), have expressed interest to forge partnerships with PNA. The PNA's 5-member delegation was led by Ms. Lee Ann L. Pattugalan. END
