RIYADH, 22 November 2022 – World-renowned Bayanihan, the Philippine National Folk Dance Company, made history as they staged their first-ever performance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, performing and highlighting the vibrant culture and artistry of the Philippines at Riyadh Season 2022.

The Bayanihan group performed during the Philippine Week, from 16 to 19 November 2022, in Al-Suwaidi park, Riyadh, part of the 15 entertainment zones across the city for this year's Riyadh Season - an event held under the auspices of the Saudi National Events Center (NEC) and the General Entertainment Authority (GEA).

The dance troupe impressed more than 15,000 international audiences and members of the Filipino community as they introduced a repertoire that displayed rich and diverse Filipino traditions and folk narratives.

The Philippine Embassy also hosted the Bayanihan as they conducted an intensive "Sayaw Workshop," a dance class attended by Embassy personnel and their dependents, and representatives of various Philippine schools in Riyadh at the Philippine Embassy's Multipurpose Hall last 19 November 2022.

Philippine Embassy's Chargé d'Affaires Rommel Romato congratulated the Bayanihan Dance Company for the success of their participation in Riyadh Season 2022. "The world-class performances and professionalism of the Bayanihan continue to inspire our overseas communities to value and promote our rich Filipino culture everywhere," Romato said.

Riyadh Season is a state-sponsored annual entertainment and sports festival, aligned with the Saudi Vision 2030's aim of boosting the Kingdom's entertainment sector while safeguarding Saudi's cultural heritage under the patronage of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, who heads the NEC.
