10 July 2013 - The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that 10 Filipino resorts and dive operators participated in the 8th Malaysian International Dive Expo (MIDE) held from July 05 to 07 at the Putra World Trade Center in Kuala Lumpur. 

KL 2Leading the Philippine delegation were Department of Tourism officials Fay Lena Castro and Cesar Villanueva, bringing with them 10 Filipino resorts and dive operators.  The participating resorts include Holiday Asia Divers, Buceo Filipinas, Kasai Village Dive and Spa Resort, El Pinoy Dive and Leisure Resort, Thresher Shark Divers Inc., Donsol Eco Tour-Dive Central, Halo Dive Resort-Dive Central, Club Mabuhay-Dive Central, Punta Bulata-Dive Central and, Acacia Resort and Dive Center.

Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia J. Eduardo Malaya, Tourism Marketing Representative for Malaysia and Thailand Datin Melissa Ong and other Embassy officials were present during the opening ceremonies held on July 05.   Malaysian Ministry of Tourism Director General for Planning Dato’ Haji Azizan Noordin was the ceremony’s guest of honor. 

During the fair, the Philippine booth was well-received, as visitors flocked the booth to inquire on the dive spots in the country, as well as to book for their trips to the Philippines. 

Established in 2006, the MIDE is an annual event which aims to promote Asia as the best diving destination in the world. It also aims to build awareness for the new generation to the beauty of the marine environment and making scuba diving as an interesting and exciting experience to explore.  END
