PH, Brunei Strengthen Cultural Ties, Agree to Collaborate on Youth and Sports Sectors

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 18 November 2022 – Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol met with the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) of Brunei Darussalam Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad on 15 November 2022. He was accompanied by MCYS Permanent Secretary Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari, and Yang Mulia Hajah Fauziah binti Haji Abdul Hamid, Director of Research, Development and International Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. They discussed the strengthening and the renewal of bilateral ties in cultural cooperation
They recalled the successful collaborations between the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam countries under the Philippines-Brunei Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Cultural Cooperation signed in 2017. The MOU has been instrumental in the continuous institutional networking, sharing of best practices and people-to-people exchanges between the Philippines and Brunei. It enabled the showcasing of major Philippine cultural events in the Sultanate.
They also agreed to further strengthen bilateral ties in cultural cooperation and enhance this partnership through greater involvement of the youth sector and the organization of more collaborations in sports events. END
