SANTIAGO, 28 November 2022 - The Philippine Embassy in Chile, current Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Santiago (ACS), spearheaded the successful participation of the ACS—composed of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Viet Nam and the Philippines—in the Feria Internacional de Santiago (FISA) held at the Events & Conventions Center Parque FISA in Pudahuel from 16-20 November 2022
FISA is Chile’s largest and most historic multisectoral trade, investment, and cultural expo. This year’s event marked its return after 24 years, thus bringing a feeling of welcome nostalgia to its more than 50,000 Chilean and foreign visitors. FISA 2022 featured more than 200 national and international exhibitors divided into six pavilions: International, Hecho en Chile (Made in Chile), Green Expo, Kidexpo, Outdoor Fest Zone, and Culinary World Sector. It also brought together various local and international artists and performers on its outdoor concert stage.
The Philippine Embassy’s participation in FISA highlighted the organic beauty of the Philippines and the welcoming charm of Filipinos. The Philippine booth, as part of the ASEAN Village, showcased cultural handicrafts, artisanal products, native textiles, and gastronomic samplings for all FISA visitors to savor and enjoy. The booth displayed photographs and books on the Philippines’ best travel destinations and top tourism offerings. Moreover, the booth also tried to capture the many cultural similarities between the Philippines and Chile, especially in history, religion, fashion, and cuisine. The Philippine booth was featured on the TVN (Television Nacional de Chile) Morning Show—one of the most popular in the country.
Also as part of the ASEAN Village, the ACS jointly decorated an ASEAN booth showcasing the distinct qualities, cultural charm, investment opportunities, and tourist attractions that make Southeast Asia among the most promising and culturally diverse regions in the world. The ASEAN Village brought the colorful sites and flavors of Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam closer to FISA’s audiences and stakeholders, while simultaneously underscoring the ASEAN motto: “One Vision, One Identity, One Community.”
Given its success and wide-reaching audience, the Philippine Embassy plans to continue participating in future FISA expos, possibly along with the rest of ACS. The Philippines is scheduled to turn over Chairmanship of ACS to Viet Nam at the end of January 2023.
