PARIS, 29 November 2022 — The Philippine Embassy celebrated the 75th anniversary of Philippines-France diplomatic relations, through the exhibit of multi-awarded Filipino painter Elmer Borlongan, which opened on 20 October 2022.

The exhibit entitled “When Time Stood Still,” was a partnership between the Embassy and the Galerie Geraldine Banier.  A reception in honor of the painter was hosted by Ambassador Junever M. Mahilum-West at the exclusive social club Cercle de l'Union interalliée (or Cercle interallié) on 21 October 2022. The exhibit opening and reception were attended by other artists and art aficionados from the Philippines, France and other nearby European countries.

“When Time Stood Still” features fifteen new paintings and monotypes produced during the Covid years, and invites the observer to ponder questions such as our values and the meaning of life in light of the pandemic we experienced.

This exhibit was Elmer Borlongan’s debut in Europe. END
