DAMASCUS, 01 December 2022 — The Philippine Embassy in Damascus held an awarding ceremony called “Partnership for Humanitarian Work Awards Night” on 23 November 2022 at the City of Jasmine Hotel, Damascus, Syrian Arab Republic, in honor of the partners who assisted in Post’s delivery of ATN Services, especially in expediting the repatriation of distressed OFWs.

During the DFA Day Celebration on 23 June 2022, the Secretary for Foreign Affairs conferred upon the Philippine Embassy in Damascus the Best ATN Award, which recognizes Philippine Foreign Service Posts across the world for their efficient, effective and swift ATN services.

As part of the Embassy’s thanksgiving, it gathered all persons from different Syrian public and private entities with valuable contributions to the success of the repatriation of hundreds of distressed OFWs, and awarded them with Certificates of Recognition.

In her opening remarks, CDA Vida Soraya Verzosa conveyed her overflowing gratitude to the awardees and impressed upon them that Post’s first-ever Best ATN Award would not have been possible without the strong partnership of each concerned person and office.

Post also awarded the same certificates to Philippine counterparts, particularly the lawyers from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, who were responsible in interviewing and arranging the smooth reception of the OFWs when they arrived in the Philippines. Embassy personnel also received certificates of commendation, which will be recorded in their permanent files.

Officials and key personnel of the Syrian Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Health, Anti-Human Trafficking Department, Immigration and Passport Department, Labor and Social Affairs Department, Adraa Prison, Damascus International Airport, and private entities, as well as Filipino community leaders attended the ceremony, which was livestreamed through Post’s official Facebook Page.
