PH Embassy, DOT Secretary Frasco Join Global Tourism Summit in Riyadh
RIYADH, 12 December 2022 — The Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco and Philippine Embassy's Chargé d' Affaires Rommel Romato joined the 22nd edition of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit Global Leaders' Dialogue in Riyadh on 28-29 November 2022.
The Global Summit, which runs until 01 December at King Abdul Aziz International Conference Center, is considered as the largest tourism event of the year, with tourism ministers, government, and industry leaders in attendance.
Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco and the Saudi Vice Minister of Tourism, HRH Princess Haifa Al Saud, held a bilateral exchange on the sidelines of the Global Summit and discussed prospects of cooperation between the Philippines and Saudi Arabia in the field of tourism.
The Philippine Embassy hosted the DOT delegation as they conducted a “Listening Tour" to engage the travel and tourism stakeholders in Saudi Arabia in a thorough dialogue.
An overview of the DOT's ongoing projects and collaborations with other government agencies to make the Philippines' tourism industry a major pillar for economic recovery in fulfillment of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.'s vision for the sector was discussed.
Chargé d' Affaires Rommel Romato expressed his confidence that DOT's visit to Riyadh will serve as a prelude to what is about to come next in promoting the creative arts and tourism scene of the Philippines in the Kingdom.
Under the theme "Travel for a Better Future," this year's WTTC Global Summit is aimed to bring global thought leaders to discuss the pressing challenges affecting the post-pandemic travel and tourism sector. END
