PH Embassy in Vienna Holds Sakuting Workshop in Croatia

VIENNA, 16 December 2022 – As part of its economic and cultural diplomacy activities, the Philippine Embassy in Vienna, in cooperation with Children for a Better World association, held a Sakuting dance workshop in Samobor, Croatia on 14 December 2022.
The dance workshop, led by Cultural Officer and Attaché Kristine Camille Cruz, demonstrated the Sakuting dance to primary school children and their parents as a way of introducing them to Filipino culture. Using a shortened version of the Move with Pinas video on Sakuting, with live demonstrations from Embassy representatives, the workshop provided a brief presentation on the history of the dance and guided the participants in the steps and beat of the Sakuting dance.
The two-hour event opened with the welcoming remarks of the Children for a Better World association President Leo Petrov, followed by an introductory presentation about the Philippines by second Secretary and Vice Consul Patricia C. Milla that showcased information and facts about Philippine history, culture, geography, while also highlighting notable tourist destinations in the country.
The Philippine Embassy also distributed local delicacies to the participants, such as ensaymada, local fruit juices, as well as promotional materials from the Department of Tourism (DOT).
The Children for a Better World is an association headquartered in Samobor, Croatia, with the aim of introducing children to different cultures and further enriching and improving their creative development, upbringing, and education. END
