New PH Ambassador Meets with Filipino Parishioners, Reiterates Commitment to Provide Assistance and Efficient Services, Graces MWO Year-end Celebration
AMMAN 30 December 2022 — Philippine Ambassador to Jordan Wilfredo C. Santos, accompanied by his wife, Madam Geraldine C. Lucero-Santos, joined the Filipino parishioners of the Annunciation Church in Amman on 30 December 2022, for the year-end mass officiated by Father Gerard Joaquin Masangya.
The Friday mass was also attended by other Embassy officials and personnel.
The gathering gave the opportunity for Ambassador Santos to convey his best wishes to the Filipino community for the coming year and to reiterate the Embassy's commitment to provide assistance to our nationals in the Kingdom.
"Our doors are always open to our Filipino workers who need appropriate assistance from the Embassy," Ambassador Santos said. He added that the Philippine Embassy will also continue to provide efficient and quality consular services to Filipinos and other applicants.
Thereafter, Ambassador Santos, accompanied by his wife, Madam Geraldine and Philippine Embassy officers, attended the salu-salo and year end celebration of the Migrant Workers Office (POLO-Jordan).
The event, held on the ground floor of the MWO building, featured Christmas dances and songs rendered by Filipino community organizations. It also included the proclamation of the winners of the Parol Making contest organized by POLO-Jordan.
The event likewise served as a commemoration for the 1st year anniversary of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) which was created under RA 11641, otherwise known as the Department of Migrant Workers Act and signed into law by former President Rodrigo R. Duterte on 30 December 2021.
The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is home to an estimated 42,000 Filipinos, majority of whom are working in the capital city, Amman. END
