BEIRUT 11 January 2023 — The Philippine Embassy in Lebanon sent home one (1) detained OFW on 30 December 2022. The Embassy repatriated a total of 166 distressed Filipino nationals in 2022.

The Embassy faced challenges in clearing Filipino nationals with legal cases due to ongoing administrative strikes in Lebanon.

The Embassy remains committed to help distressed Filipinos in Lebanon by continuously offering the repatriation assistance, especially to undocumented migrant workers, many of whom have been victims of human trafficking and illegal recruitment. The public is constantly reminded of the deployment ban of newly-hired Filipino workers bound for Lebanon. Any active forms of recruitment of Filipinos to work in Lebanon are therefore strictly prohibited and punishable by law. END
